The aim of the Back to School Foundation (BTSF) project is the secondary education of teenage orphans. The BTSF is located in Monkey Bay Malawi.

Birgit Albers started the foundation (BTSF) is registered, with Rotary International World Community Service (this allows tax conductibility for all donations),and as a Humanitarian Foundation in Germany. It is now receiving donations from Australia, Germany, UK, and the USA. Riverlinks Anglican Parish Launceston is and important partner.

Sponsorship of one young adult for one year costs AUD$180 (tax deductible). Donations are 100% fee free, no administration fee, no overheads.

The project is conducted in such a low-key way that the local communities are empowered and shown simple resource, water and land management.

The BTSF is managed by Birgit Albers. Project relations with local government, schools and village chiefs are excellent.

The project now extends to providing relief for a people in poverty in the following ways:

• Secondary education sponsorship for young adult orphans.
• Close rapport with the local chief, who has donated land to the project.
• Close liaison with several state and private school principals.
• Role modeling water use-age, sanitation and growing vegetable and chickens
• Voluntary tuition from itinerant travelers.
• After school facility for student socialising and tuition.
• Accommodation for African students who live a long distance from their school.
• The Project goal is to become sustainable into the future.

Back To School Foundation also has a site located in Germany.
